Cardiff CELTS Wheelchair Basketball Club

The Cardiff CELTS Basketball Academy comprises both mens and womens, senior and junior and wheelchair teams. The Academy actively fosters a close relationship between all the its teams and, in relation to Wales, it is unique in having such a comprehensive range of teams...providing opportunities for every participant regardless of age, sex, ability or disability.

The website for the Cardiff CELTS Wheelchair Basketball Club can be accessed by clicking here....

There is a particularly close link between the CELTS Women and the Wheelchair team, as the CELTS Womens team's Holly Hinchey is the Head Coach of the CELTS Wheelchair Basketball Club.

In fact, Holly has recently been awarded the Sports Council for Wales' coveted Coach of the Year Award 2007 in the  Coach to Disabled Persons : Participation category....as a small recognition for all her hard work with the CELTS Wheelchair Basketball Club.

The Cardiff CELTS Wheelchair Basketball Academy currently has two teams which play in the third and fourth divisions of the Great Britain National League.

The 2006/2007 was the Wheelchair Club's first competitive season - and the CELTS got off to a very promising start which we are helping to build upon.

The CELTS Wheelchair Basketball Club was awarded the title of "Best Performing New Club" by the Great Britain National League for its performances in the 2006/2007 season - a honour rarely handed out by the National Governing Body of Wheelchair Basketball in Great Britain. The Club is also currently working towards Club Mark accreditation from the Sports Council for Wales.

All of the Clubs training and home matches are played at Coleg Glan Hafren's Trowbridge Campus and full details of the Clubs training times and match schedules can be found of the Wheelchair Basketball Website (please use the link above)....

ENTRY TO OUR MATCHES IS FREE - so why not come along and support your local wheelchair basketball club.

If you have any queries or would like any further information regarding the Wheelchair Basketball section of the CELTS Basketball Academy, and you cannot find those answers on the Club Website, please contact us using the "Contact Us" page on the Wheelchair Basketball website and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Alternatively, please feel free to come along to one of our training sessions or matches and say "hello"! Spectators and volunteers are always more than welcome - but if you would like to join in on your first visit to the Club, please contact us first...so we can have one of the Club's sports wheelchairs ready for you to use.

Wheelchair Basketball is a fast paced, exciting and dynamic sport which can be played by people of any age or ability (with or without a disability).
